But this post has got inadvertantly delayed at my level. The reason is my hectic schedule, which has made me a frequent traveller. Things are a bit crazy and and unsettled. I am one of those who hates travel. But then if the situation demands that you leave the comforts of home and be a backpacker, so be it. Hopefully, next month is going to be better than the last few months, with things resolved on one front at least which has taken me out of town thrice in two months.Some one wise has said that " things will not always go the way you want it, so compromise and be happy that you have achieved something and accept the rest as destiny '. But I told the wisened one that even if things do not always go the way we plan it, we have to try our level best to make them the way we want. We keep trying till there is hope, at the same time being prepared to accept whatever is the end result.The last trip was a train journey to and fro travelling alone. So it gave me an opportunity to observe people and interact with co-passengers. I have enjoyed the day journeys for a change, snacking our way through, after a long time. It was like going to stay in a chawl, chitchatting with neighbours on all and sundry topics. A lady with a kid got down midway. She said with all sincerity, 'ham yehaan upnagar mein rehte hain, kabhi aao to ghar aana'. I said 'haan zaroor aayenge'. The only thing connecting us was the train journey. Still the familiarity with which we met and parted, was refreshing. And the server from pantry, kept referring to the kids,(on both journey) as 'pantya'. 'kaay devu pantyala sandwich devu kaa ", he kept saying with a dour face, bringing smiles on the faces of all who could hear him.Now the next alphabet is "O" as in " sOng" which has these lines :ek hi saagar ek hi naiyya

sab ka ek kinaaraThere would be no 'song ' without an O , that is for sure. This Rafi solo, composed by Madan Mohan from the movie 'Jaagir' (1960) is mentioned in the list under 'U". But I feel it is occurate spelled as "oonche oonche mehlon waale'. The lyricist is Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. One Madan Mohan song is a must for Rafi's series.The song is talking about the divide of have's and have nots in true 50's fashion. The sentiments in that era were stereo-typical that the people with money are necessarily bad and highhanded. May be some people were meaner than others. Public perceptions are not the same anymore and have undergone a seachange. As a song in 90's which says :rehne ko ghar nahin

ab tak ussi ne hai paalaThe change was such that a hero playing tapori character as an introduction to his girlfriend, said, "apun ke paas ek kholi hai, friend log hai, bas aur kya chaahiye".There is more equality in behaviour patterns at least. There is less begrudging each other in our urban set ups. We as a nation of people belonging to cross sections of society, have grown up and learnt to hold our head high and be on top of the situation. And not look for pity or sympathy from those better off than us.The song is picturized as a gathering song where the land lords of the area are mixing with the tenents. Niranjan Sharma is the actor singing this song with the other dewellers joining in dancing, enacting the words as in dance drama. I am not able to recognise any of the actors. But the song itself is apportioning blame, philosophical and defiant all in the same breath. Such was the medium of film songs, that in a few lines a lot was said.Rafi sahab as usual is in his elements here, in a high pitch song, with no chorus to accompany, sounding as if the whole group is singing. There was this particular punjabi folk like composition style favoured by many music directors, which were invariably sung by Rafi sahab, as his voice quality and range suited them. And Rafi sahab sang such song with such effortlessness that they sound so sweet and easy on ears, despite being high pitched. I have just found an audio link also for the song, which is believe it or not sounding like the musical instruments are also singning with Rafi. Amazing echo and bass here. If technique could make such singers than we would have had a few more singers with Rafi sahab's abilities and qualities.Video
