Mirza brothers had written the script of dhanwan with rajesh khanna in mind and their condition was, that rajesh khanna only would play the tittle role. Filmaker sohanlal kanwar was interested to make film on that script when he heard it and he wanted manoj kumar his regular hero( be-imaan, pehchan, sanyasi) to play the lead, but the mirza brothers wanted rajesh khanna only, if sohanlal kanwar wants the script.
