Storyline
Love hits people in all sorts of ways. To Sanjay (Uday Chopra) however,
love hit him like a ton of bricks. Sanjay is the dithering Casanova,
constantly bungling up his romantic liaisons, till one day the phone
rings. Anjali (Sanjana) his childhood friend is getting married. It's
now that the bricks fall on him. Observing Sanjay's reaction to this
news and hearing him talk of Anjali, his flat mate Ria (Bipasha Basu)
concludes that Sanjay is in love with her. Sanjay wakes up to this
truth, reluctantly but surely and sets off on a noble mission - to break
the wedding. He is overjoyed to be reunited with Anjali - till he meets
the groom to be - handsome, charismatic, every girl's dream guy, Rohit
(Jimmy Shergill). Nevertheless, Sanjay's love for Anjali compels him to
take on the world and he sets off on his crusade of poisoning the
family's mind against Rohit. It's all about a clash between the good and

Enjoyable flick
Having recently revived
my interest for Bollywood movies, I was pleasantly surprised by 'Mere
Yaar Ki Shadi Hai'. One only has to read the story to know that it is
based on Hollywood's romantic comedy 'My Best Friend's Wedding'. Only
the gender roles are reversed. Boy and girl are friends. Girl announces
her engagement. Boy realises how much he loves her and tries to win her
heart. Unfortunately the husband-to-be isn't a total prat, but handsome
and charming.
The story has nothing new to add, but is despite that quite enjoyable. The songs are beautiful and the dances are quite exquisite, especially the one performed at the bachelor party. Who says women can only steam up a bachelor party by taking of their clothes? This scene is indeed sexier than any old striptease.
Naturally the film had some flaws. Not only technical, but also emotional flaws. But all in all, I very much enjoyed this film and can recommend it.
Bipasha Basu was absolutely adorable. My only regret is that her role was so small. She would have made an excellent leading lady in this movie.

Plot
Sanjay Malhotra (Uday Chopra) lives in Mumbai with his friend Ria (Bipasha Basu). He receives a phone call from his childhood friend Anjali Sharma (Tulip Joshi) who shocks him with the news that she is getting married. Unfortunately Sanjay has loved Anjali for years. Jealous and frustrated Sanjay makes his way to Anjali with an intention to stop her marriage.Sanjay goes to Anjali's home and soon meets her groom- Rohit Khanna (Jimmy Shergill). Sanjay then begins to scheme. He organises a bachelor party for Rohit and all the men in the family. Rohit ends up completely drunk. He picks up on the fact that Sanjay is out to stop his marriage and vows to make sure that Sanjay fails in this. Sanjay and Ria try to make Anjali jealous to make her understand she loves him. Later Ria tells Anjali that she and Sanjay were never lovers. Anjali reveals that she loved Sanjay all her life but the latter never understood it but considered her as only his best friend. Rohit is heartbroken when he comes to know of this. Rohit tells Anjali's mom that she and her daughter, Anjali always wanted Sanjay to marry Anjali from deep within their heart. On knowing his absence in her wedding, Anjali leaves for Mumbai to meet Sanjay in her bridal dress. She asks him why he left . Sanjay expresses his love for her saying that he can't see her marrying anyone else. Finally both express their love for each other. Even though Rohit fails in his challenge, he is happy for their love. Sanjay and Anjali get married, Rohit and Ria sing and dance in their best friend's wedding.
