Rajesh Khanna celebrated his 27th birthday at Bombay’s (Now Mumbai) Hotel Ambassador.

Just three days before the swinging 70s hit India, making him India’s ‘first superstar’, Rajesh Khanna celebrated his 27th birthday at Bombay’s (Now Mumbai) Hotel Ambassador.
Captured by ace lensman Shyam Aurangabadkar, this picture shows Khanna with some of his guests.

Standing next to the birthday boy is filmmaker GP Sippy who introduced Khanna in his 1967 film Raaz.

Raj Kapoor, Mala Sinha, Rajendra Kumar, Dharmendra, Manu Narang (from Ambassador hotel) and Nanda who also came to wish Khanna, are seen posing for this keepsake picture.
Since everybody in the picture was obviously posing for the photo-op,  they look quite disconnected with each other. While Mr GP Sippy must be the only person speaking to the birthday boy,
Mala Sinha, Rajendra Kumar and even Manu Narang (with an arm around Dharmendra) seem to be happy in their own thoughts.
Nanda and Dharmendra however seem to have nothing else to concentrate on other than the photographer.

And this is how Rajesh Khanna spent December 28. 1969. Surrounded by some of the biggies of Bollywood
