Yasmin (Hindi: यास्मिन) is a 1955 Hindi Black-and-white Costume drama written, produced and directed by Abdur Rashid Kardar. The film starred Vyjayanthimala in the title role with Suresh in the lead while Jayant, Rashid Khan, Maruti Rao, S. N. Banerjee, Shyam Kumar and Rajan Haksar forms an ensemble cast. The film was produced at Kardar Studio. The film's score was composed by C. Ramchandra duo with lyrics provided by Jan Nisar Akhtar. Editing was done by M. S. Hajee and was filmed by Dwarka Divecha with the audiography was done by Ishan Ghosh. The story is about Ahmad who is in love with Yasmin.
Plot
The story revolves around Sheikh who has lots of properties, and recovering taxes and dues on them. He lives in a palatial house with his wife, Zubeda, and son, Ahmad. When Ahmad grows up, Zubeda notices that he is spending too much time with women in their harem, and wants his father to get him involved in their business. Later Ahmad mend his ways, give up on Yasmin and return home, where he has planned his marriage with Nadira. He refuses to marry Nadira, and runs away from home. What happens is Ahmad life is the next part of the story?Cast

Storyline
A powerful and princely Sheikh lives in 18th Century Persia, makes a
living renting out properties, and recovering taxes and dues on them. He
lives in a palatial house with his wife, Zubeda, and son, Ahmad. When
Ahmad grows up, Zubeda notices that he is spending too much time with
women in their harem, and wants his father to get him involved in their
business. Sheikh accordingly instructs Ahmad to collect all revenue,
which he does so. A few days later, Sheikh is informed that Ahmad has
been spending time with a friend named Farid, and is romantically
involved with a dancing girl named Yasmin. A visibly upset Sheikh
accordingly warns Ahmad to mend his ways, give up on Yasmin and return
home, where he has planned his marriage with Nadira, the daughter of
Amir Qasim. Ahmad does return home, but refuses to marry Nadira, and
runs away from home to be close to Yasmin, knowing fully well that
Yasmin is connected with a group of gypsy thugs, who use her charms to

Watch this movie to see Suresh, hero from 1950s and for its 3 good songs
I was recommended to
see this movie by a movie buff, who besides owning a DVD store also has
encyclopedic knowledge about Bollywood films especially old movies.
Although I had to pay exorbitant money to buy this DVD, as it is a rare
film, but it just met my expectation and didn't feel the pinch to pay
the cost, as it had a hero unknown to me named Suresh, who has acted in a
number of films one of them being Dulari in 1949. He also acted in two
films in Pakistan in 1950s which could have been uncompleted projects
before the partition, but came back and acted in films till 1971. He
paired excellently with Vyjayantimala, in this movie. This movie had
three immortal songs, the best being 'Mujpe ilzam bewafai hai' sung by
Lata, tuned by C. Ramchander and lyrics by Jan Nisar Akhtar, others
being 'Bechaiin nazar betaab jigar' by Talat Mehmood and a duet by
Lata-Talat 'Tum apni yaad bhi dil'. The background of the story is
Arabian as it happened in 1950-60, when there were number of films made
in middle eastern landscape like Dilip Kumar featured 'Yahudi, but was
not boring, as it got lifted by good music and actors. Those passionate
about old songs, can watch this film.
