Pehla Nasha English: First Intoxication (as in Love)) is a 1993 Indian film and the debut of director Ashutosh Gowariker. The movie is a remake of Brian de Palma's 1984 thriller Body Double. Deepak Tijori plays the lead role alongside Pooja Bhatt, Raveena Tandon and Paresh Rawal. The film also has cameo appearances by Aamir Khan, Sudesh Berry, Rahul Roy, Shahrukh Khan, Juhi Chawla and Saif Ali Khan
as themselves. It is the only film to feature Aamir and Shahrukh in a
scene together. Upon release, the film received poor reviews and failed
at the box office.[1]

Synopsis
A down and out actor, Deepak Bakshi (Deepak Tijori), who has claustrophobia, goes to live as a care-taker at his friend's (Jayant Kripalani) apartment while he is away. His friend shows him a telescope which is used for spying on a neighborhood building which houses a beautiful woman. Deepak takes to spying on a regular basis. One day while spying on the woman, Deepak sees her getting attacked. He decides to get involved, and lands himself into trouble with the police as he is now a suspect for murder. Later he is able to solve the mystery by overcoming his phobia and catching the main killer.Cast

Storyline

Typical yet solid remake of "Body Double"
As is the norm with
Bollywood, this remake is uncredited, but that's another story for
another time. "Pehla Nasha" is the directorial debut of "Lagaan"
director Ashutosh Gowariker, who is arguably one of the best and most
honest directors in Bollywood right now. I don't normally follow
Bollywood, but I've seen more Indian films than most middle class
Canadians, and Gowariker never fails to astonish me with the sheer gulf
in class between his directorial abilities and that of most of his
peers.
Anyway, about the film, I haven't seen it in a long time and I'd imagine it would be pretty hard to find outside India. All I remember was quite liking it and thinking it was about as good as the original, which I never thought of as one of DePalma's better films.
