Prateeksha (English: Waiting) is a 1993 Bollywood Action film Produced by S. Ramanathan on Raam Raj Kala Mandhir banner and directed by Lawrence D'Souza. It stars Jeetendra, Moushumi Chatterjee, Govinda and Shilpa Shirodkar in pivotal roles and music composed by Rajesh Roshan.[1][2]

Plot
A story of a lovely married couple Vijay Kumar & Laxmi (Jeetendra & Moushmi Chatterjee) who performs musical shows together with his friend Tom Dacosta (Vinod Mehra) and their son Raja (Master Bunty) as their means of living. Dinesh Khanna (Danny Denzongpa), Laxmi was his heart-breaker during her college days, who never quite got over her rejecting him, once to bring down when Vijay Kumar performing a show at London and takes the revenge by coming home and try to rape Laxmi in his absence. But unfortunately, Vijay gets back home due to the late flight along with Tom and while protecting his wife he gets murdered by Dinesh and Tom is crippled. The blame was put on Laxmi and she has been life sentenced. Raja (Govinda) grows up pretty much without both parents; doing various street shows as his earning. Meeting Renu (Shilpa Shirodkar) leads to mutual love. Meanwhile, Laxmi is realized from jail. Remaining story is finding out his journey of meeting his love, career peak and Dinesh, the villain with whom he takes revenge.Cast

Storyline
Laxmi (Moushumi Chatterjee) was a heart-breaker during her college days,
and one of her jilted suitors was Dinesh Khanna (Danny Denzongpa), who
never quite got over her rejecting him. Laxmi married singer Vijay
Kumar(Jeetendra) and has a son, Raja (Master Bunty). Vijay unexpectedly
returns home gets into a scuffle with Dinesh and dies, while Tom D'Costa
(Vinod Mehra) his secretary is crippled. Raja grows up pretty much
without both parents; becomes a successful entertainer. Meeting Renu
(Shilpa Shirodkar)leads to mutual love . Laxmi approves the
relationship. When Laxmi comes to know that Renu is Dinesh's daughter
she forbids her son Raja from having anything to do with Renu. Dinesh
forbids Renu from meeting Raju when he finds out that Raja is Laxmi's
son. He wants her to marry a man of his choice. An angry Tom confronts
Dinesh, setting of a train of events when the principals are forced to
confront the truth of events leading up to the death of Vijay.

Are the sins of a father visited on her daughter? Can a woman retain her humanity after spending 14 jail years? Does a son have an obligation to avenge his father's death?
A modestly successful
performer, Vijay, his wife Lakshmi, his secretary Tom and Lakshmi's ex
admirer Dinesh figure in a scuffle. Vijay dies.
Years later, his son by Lakshmi, who grew up almost as an orphan because his mother went to prison, becomes a successful performer. He adores his mother and Govinda's (Raja) acting in the role of a son is spectacular.
He meets Renu, another performer and love bells start to ring. Renu (Shilpa Shirodkar) is the only child of a well heeled businessman, Dinesh whose ethics, morals and values are questionable - but Renu has no idea of the dark side of her father. Shilpa's acting is rather mediocre in this role.
Moshumi Chatterjee turns in another notable performance as Lakshmi, Raju's mother, and Renu's mother in-law.
S. Ramanathan's direction is tight, editing good though the cameras could have been better positioned for some of the more emotive moments to capture expressions realistically.
Though the story line is pretty much tired through over use by the Bombay filmi Moghuls, the acting, music and some unexpected twists to the plot make this a wonderful way to spend a lazy week-end afternoon.
