When

Barsaat (English: Rain) is a 1995 Hindi romantic film which was the debut of Bobby Deol (son of veteran actor Dharmendra) and Twinkle Khanna (daughter of late actor Rajesh Khanna). The film was directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The movie was initially titled Jaan, later changed to Meri Jeet then Jeet and then Satwa Asmaan, before the Deols settled on Barsaat. Incidentally, after 10 years, actor Bobby Deol worked in same movie title Barsaat (2005 film)
This relationship is not approved by Tina's wealthy widowed step-dad Suresh Oberoi (Raj Babbar) who hopes to marry Tina with his friend's (Bharat Kapoor) son. Suresh complains to the college principal (Vijay Kashyap), that Badal has been responsible for sexually harassing a girl at the college one night but Tina testifies in favour of Badal and insists he's innocent for the wrongdoing. Suresh then asks a corrupt cop, Negi, (Danny Denzongpa) the city's assistant commissioner of police, for assistance. Negi arrests Badal on trumped-up charges and imprisons him. Badal's widowed dad Bhairon (Mukesh Khanna) comes to the big city to try to make sense of why Badal is in prison. Suresh gives a contract to Negi to have Badal killed. Negi agrees and hires a gang of ruthless outlaws to hunt and kill Badal. He also pressures Tina not to acknowledge and meet Badal anymore, and Tina reluctantly agrees. When she learns that he is not dead she goes to him. In an effort to save her, Suresh dies and Badal kills Negi. At last, Tina and Badal unite with the dying Suresh approving their match.
The music of Barsaat was composed by Nadeem Shravan, and the lyrics were penned by Sameer.

Plot
Badal (Bobby Deol) is a naive but intelligent young man who comes from a small village to the big city to attend college. He is introduced to city life by Damru (Harish Patel) who calls himself Danny. When Badal attends college, he meets pretty and precocious Tina Oberoi (Twinkle Khanna) and, after a few misunderstandings and misadventures, they fall in love.This relationship is not approved by Tina's wealthy widowed step-dad Suresh Oberoi (Raj Babbar) who hopes to marry Tina with his friend's (Bharat Kapoor) son. Storyline
Badal comes from a rural village to take an enrollment into a college in
the city. He meets his fellow collegian, Tina Oberoi and both gets
acquainted with each other and after a few misgivings both fall in love
with each other; only to learn that Tina's wealthy father, Dinesh Oberoi
is against this relationship. Dinesh attempt to malign Badal's
reputation by accusing him of raping a female but Tina testify in favor
of Badal. Dinesh then make an attempt to bribe Badal with money but
Badal refuses and continues to meet with Tina. When things goes out of
hand Dinesh decides to hire a corrupt Assistant Commissioner of Police
Neghi to kill Badal. Neghi then decides that he will go to any length to

After all script idea's kept being rejected by Dharmendra, Shekhar Kapur decided to revive his old script "Champion". Earlier Shekhar Kapur was making the film with Sunny Deol and a 15 year old Tabu. But the film was finally shelved due to problems such as Boney Kapoor objecting to Tabu doing the film. Shekhar revived the film for Bobby Deol's launch pad, but every girl he selected was rejected by Dharmendra. Shekhar Kapur wanted his niece Nomita Nischal opposite Bobby Deol. Nomita was the daughter of Navin Nischal and wanted to become a actress at the time. Dharmendra did not like her pairing with Bobby Deol.
