Coolie No. 1 is a 1995 Bollywood comedy film directed by David Dhawan. The film stars Karisma Kapoor, Govinda, Shakti Kapoor, Kadar Khan, Sadashiv Amrapurkar with music by Anand-Milind.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9] This movie was one of the first successful movie of Karisma Kapoor.[10] Actor Govinda received the Star Screen Award Special Jury Award for his role in this movie as 'performer of the decade'.[11][12] Over the years the movie has become a classic in Indian film history and is now considered a cult film.[13] The movie is a remake of a 1993 Tamil film Chinna Mapillai.
PlotShaadiram Gharjode (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) is once humiliated by Hoshiyar Chand (Kader Khan) when Shaadiram goes to inform him about a family wanting to marry their son to Hoshiyar's daughter. Hoshiyar Chand insults them as he wants both his daughters to marry into the richest family. Gharjode decides to teach Hoshiyar Chand a lesson: He meets a coolie called Raju (Govinda) and they go to Hoshiyar Chand's village pretending to be a rich family. Hoshiyar is impressed and he wants his daughter Malti (Karisma Kapoor) to marry Raju. This leads to humorous situations in the climax.

Soundtrack
The music of Coolie No. 1 was a rage when it released. Although producer of Tips films Vashu Bhagnani and director David Dhawan were extremely confident that Husn Hain Suhana rendered by Abhijeet and Chandana Dixit would be the selling factor of the album, it was the song Main To Raste Se Ja Raha Tha that did the trick. Storyline
In order to avenge his insult against wealthy Hoshiarchand Choudhary;
Pandit Shaadiram Gharjodhe asks Raju; a coolie by profession to
masquerade as a wealthy business tycoon so that he can get marry to
Choudhary's daughter Malti. Choudhary does accept the match and the
wedding of Raju and Malti are celebrated. After the wedding Raju will
find that he might as well have to pretend all his life as gradually
Choudhary begins to suspect him especially when he gets caught by
Choudhary at the bus station working as a coolie. Written by

'Coolie No. 1' deserves
a watch for the sheer magic of Govinda & Kader Khan. The Supremely
Talented Actors, pitch in incredible performances, that stand out.
'Coolie No. 1' directed by David Dhawan, was a Box-Office Smash Hit back in 1995. It's an entertaining film, that is worth your time. A Story about complications within a few people, unfolds on screen, with some really entertaining moments.
The Writing Material is up-to the mark, while the Dialogue are excellent. Dhawan's Direction is nice. Cinematography & Editing are decent. Music by Anand-Milind & Shyam-Surender, is foot-tapping. Performance-Wise: Govinda & Kader Khan, as told, deliver incredible performances. And even their on-screen chemistry, is top-notch. Sadashiv Amrapurkar & Shakti Kapoor are funny, as well. Karisma Kapoor is passable. Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Harish, Kanchan & Mahesh Anand lend good support.
