Suvarna Sundari (English: Golden Beauty) is a 1957 Telugu, folklore film, in the golden era of the Telugu film industry which was produced by Adinarayana Rao on Anjali Pictures banner and directed by Vedantam Raghavaiah.[1] Starring Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Anjali Devi in the lead roles and music also composed by Adinarayana Rao. The film is simultaneously in Tamil as Manaalane Mangaiyin Baakkiyam & Hindi as the same title; Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Anjali Devi did their roles in the Hindi version too which was the only Hindi movie in ANR's film career while Gemini Ganesan played male lead role in Tamil version. The film recorded as blockbusterat the box office.
The shooting of the film was held at Venus Studios, Madras and the outdoor shooting was held at Shimla falls, Mysore. The film was released through Chamria Talkie Distributors headed by Sundar Lal Nahata, set a record at the box-office by celebrating 50 days in 48 centers and completed 100 days in 18 centers.[2]

This is a Folklore story of a Gandharva kanya loving a human prince. Jayanth (ANR) gets ousted from the kingdom. He meets Suvarna Sundari (Anjali Devi) who comes to earth on every Kaarteeka Pournami day. They love each other. Lord Indra comes to know about their love and curses Suvarna Sundari. As a result, Jayanth forgets her. She loses her child near the river. How the two protagonists reunite forms the story.
