Synopsis
Anupama Kaul (Bipasha Basu) is a woman whose sister lives in New York. One day she gets a call from her sister and while they are talking on the phone, her sister is killed by the 9/11 attacks. Anupama is devastated. A few years later Anu is happily engaged to Arpit Oberoi (Priyanshu Chatterjee) then Arpit leaves for America for business reasons and Anu is wooed by a man named Aman (John Abraham). When Arpit comes back from America, Anu tells him that she is in love with Aman and she can't marry Arpit. Then Arpit starts asking questions: Who is Aman? Where does he live? She can answer these questions but there's no evidence to support her answers, which leads Arpit to ask "Does he even exist?" The truth is Aman doesn't exist. He is just a figment of Anupama's imagination. Her friends and family try to explain to her that Aman doesn't exist. Anupama refuses to listen. Then, suddenly, Aman comes and everyone can see him. On Anupama's and Aman's wedding day Aman confesses that he is really Arpit and that he got plastic surgery. The only way that his face looks exactly like Aman's is that Arpit got the drawings from Anupama's sketchbook. Anupama doesn't believe him and still believes that he is truly Aman. Anupama's best friend asks her to show proof. Anupama shows pictures of her and Aman at the movies when Arpit is still in America without even taking a second glance at the pictures. Her friend shows the pictures to her and she sees that Aman wasn't there. Later, it is revealed that she is the victim of schizophrenia and Aman was just a part of her imagination. Arpit and Anupama soon get married.Soundtrack

Storyline
On September 11, 2001, while talking to their U.S. based daughter via
telephone, the Kaul family is thrilled to know that she is expecting a
child soon, but their conversation is interrupted by the terrorist
attack on the World Trade Centre. Both her sister and her husband perish
in that attack. The Kaul family is devastated. They take some time to
recover, and arrange their other daughter, Anupama's, marriage with
Arpit Oberoi, who runs an advertising agency. Anupama and Arpit like
each other, and are happy with this arrange marriage. While travelling
by train, Anupama meets Aman, a plainclothes officer working with an
anti-terrorist organization, and falls in love with him. She loses
interest in Arpit, and even in her family. When her family find out
about Aman, they decide to meet him, and realize that there is no such
person as Aman, leaving Anupama to be the only one to vouch for his

A good movie
Whenever there is a new
concept in Hollywood, people do get inspired all over the world and
Hindi cinema is no exception. There were films made dealing with 'Split
personality' in Hindi but only few of them really pay tributes to the
concept and one of them was Deewangee. It is well known that concept by
itself is always good and appealing but a worst implementation does
spoil the concept and drive audiences away. One such worst execution of a
beautiful, poetential story line was greatly demonstrated in Chaahat ek
nasha by none other than Partho Ghosh of Agni Sakshi fame. this brings
me to the film "Madhoshi".
This film is evidently based on the concept of "Beautiful mind" based on the life of a mathematical genius John Nash (played by Russel Crowe). I have not seen the English movie for my weakness in English. The heart of the story is the 'disease' Schrizophernia. It is said that there is no known cure of the disease. Given this non-existence of a successful method of treating a patient with such a problem, one tries their own method/attempt. Hence we should not laugh at any such method as it is very case specific.
I must say that the treatment of the subject is first rate. Now I am motivated to see 'beautiful mind'. I recommend Madhoshi to all those who want to see 'beautiful mind' but cannot follow the language. This Indian version is good enough by itself that deserves a watch!
