Chaahat – Ek Nasha is a 2005 Indian Bollywood film directed by Jai Prakash. It premiered on 11 February 2005.[1][2][3] in the leading roles.
The story takes a new turn with the downfall of Mallika as all of her albums are flopping and she is becoming a fading star. Rahul launches a newcomer, Rashmi Jaitly (Preeti Jhangiani) in his new music video. Rashmi's debut music video is a big hit and she becomes a star overnight. Rahul falls in love with her and Rashmi reciprocates his feelings. Rahul decides to marry her.
When this reality of Rahul's falling in love with Rashmi dawns upon Mallika, she is shattered. She gets drunk and orders her personal bodyguard Jaidev (Sharad Kapoor) to kill Rahul. However, the next morning, when her alcoholic intoxication vanishes, Mallika realizes her mistake and calls up Jaidev in order to stop him from killing Rahul.
But Jaidev, who is in one-sided love with Mallika, is all set to eliminate Rahul. A dangerous game has begun, in which Mallika wants to save her love at any cost.
The soundtrack of the film contains six songs composed by Anand Raj Anand.
Plot
Chaahat – Ek Nasha[4] tells of Mallika Arora (Manisha Koirala), a pop star, who falls in love with Rahul Kapoor (Aryan Vaid), the owner of RK Music World. He thinks of her as his best friend only. Though she is physically attracted to Rahul, she does not want to tie the knot. Rahul and Mallika have had physical relations. However, when he proposes to her, she politely turns him down, saying that she does not believe in wedlock. Storyline
Rashmi lives a wealthy lifestyle in India along with her widower dad,
Dr. Sanjeev Jaitly. She aspires to be a singer and dancer, and is
encouraged by her friends and dad to take this up as a profession. She
prepares her portfolio and approaches R.K. Music Co, which is run by
Rahul Kapoor. Rashmi is also an ardent fan of established singer/dancer,
Mallika Arora, a client of Rahul, and always sends her gifts and
flowers on every possible occasion. When Mallika fails to impress the
public, Rahul is advised to look for fresh talent, and he approaches
Rashmi, and together they release their first album which turns to be a
major success. Together they deliver many other hits and also fall in
love with each other. Sanjeev initially opposes their romance and
eventual marriage as he feels that Rahul and his celebrity lifestyle is
not right for Rashmi. He eventually gives in when Rashmi insists on

central idea of the story had potential
It's one of those Could
have been films. The aim of the story was good. Execution is terrible
and becomes a bad sleazy movie. This film could have been another
Pyaasa, the Gurudutt movie. It's worth avoiding. A comment on the songs:
some of the songs are actually good to listen. Manisha plays the role
of a fading star. She is not interested in a marriage. Don't be mistaken
that she wants to be a yogini, she does want to be in bed with the hero
character Rahul. Thus, rahul is looking for another girl to marry.
Rahul continues totell Manisha that she would continue to be his best
friend. Thereby maligning what is known as friendship in the Indian
world. Preethi character thinks that Manisha and Rahul are only friends
in the usual sense and wants to get married to Rahul. This too after
giving up herself to him! Funny characterisation indeed. Perhpas the
scriptwriter had a drink while writing the script. Dialogues seems to
have been written for every 10mts of the movie, otherwise he would have
found the flaw in it.
Though I don't believe that Indian sensibilities have changed, nevertheless these scriptwriters should be working for Hollywood movies. To avoid such scripts, they should at least see non-Hollywood movies.
