Naksha [Translation: Map] is a 2006 Bollywood fantasy action adventure film. The film is directed by Sachin Bajaj and stars Sunny Deol, Vivek Oberoi, Sameera Reddy and Jackie Shroff. The film was inspired by The Rundown.
The role of Ria was initially offered to Amrita Rao but she declined the offer as she was filming for Vivah. Aamir Khan was considered for Vicky's role before Vivek Oberoi.
The music was composed by Pritam. The lyrics were written by Sameer apart from the song 'U n I' which was penned by Mayur Puri. The album consisting of 11 tracks was released by Saregama on 24 July 2006.[1]

Plot
Youngster Vicky (Vivek Oberoi) lives with his mother (Navni Parihar). A lawyer shows up to speak with his mother about their father's old bungalow in the Uttarakhand hills. Vicky arrives at the bungalow and discovers a secret cache behind one of the photographs. And in the cache lies a replica of a map, made by his father who was once killed unlocking a mystery of treasure. Eventually some of his father's murderers discover Vicky, and abduct him. In the meantime, Vicky's mother visits the professor's first wife (Suhasini Mulay). The professor's son by this wife, Veer Malhotra (Sunny Deol), is a forest officer in Uttarakhand. Vicky's mother requests Veer's mother to seek Veer's assistance in finding Vicky and bringing him back. While thugs bring Vicky to Bali. As Bali is about to have Vicky executed, Veer drops in and rescues Vicky. Determined to obtain the map at any cost, Bali's men give chase to Vicky and Veer: the chase takes them through the dense jungles of Uttarakhand to the foothills of the Himalayas. They rescue Riya (Sameera Reddy) from a river rafting accident. Bali and his men capture Vicky and Veer, and slaughter the pygmies. Bali reveals that the map describes the location of a powerful device: the armour and ear rings of the mythical warrior Karna (of the Mahabharata). This armour will make the wearer invincible and all powerful. Vicky and Veer escape. Vicky and Veer arrive at the final destination, only to find that Bali has beaten them to it. Endowed with divine strength, the evil Bali easily overpowers Vicky and Veer and prepares to kill them. Vicky and Veer exploit the flaw to defeat Bali and restore the armour. They escape the temple just in time before it comes crashing down, thus sealing it off forever.Cast

Storyline
Bhagwan Shri Kishan had
predicted that the Kalyug (Dark Age - where evil will triumph over
good) will start after the battle of the Kurkshetra - the epic war
between Kauravas and their cousins the Pandavas. Sage Vyas had verbally
dictated the Bhagwad Geeta, while Bhagwan Shri Ganesh wrote it, which
included a little-known chapter - about Surya Dev's son, Karan, who
though sired by Pandavas mother, Kunti herself, had fought on the side
of the Kauravas. He adorned a body armor that no arrow or spear could
pierce rendering himself virtually immortal. This itself could have
changed the course of history and resulted in the annihilation of the
Pandavas - until Bhagwan Shri Indra himself intervened and got Karan to
donate this armor, which was then safely buried in the Uttaranchal
mountains in India. With the body armor out of the way, the Pandavas
were able to slay Karan and defeat the Kaurava hordes. Years later,
Kapil Malhotra came across a map to this armor, which he wanted to be
kept ...

Better Than I Expected
Initially I had
absolutely no hope for this movie, but I decided to watch it anyway.
Surprisingly it wasn't too bad. It actually managed to catch my
interest, especially the whole puzzle aspect of it. The integrated
mythology was the best part of it. It could have been a great movie if
they concentrated more on the different elements of the map - such as
why each was included. It starts off slow but picks up in the 2nd half.
Vivek Oberoi tends to get a little annoying. Jackie Shroff was perhaps
the only actor in the whole thing that was sufficient. Sameera Reddy's
role is completely unnecessary. Effects aren't bad, and landscape shots
are well done. All in all, its good if you have time to spare.
