Plot
Professor Anirudh (Nishikant Kamath) strongly believes in science and for him things which don’t have scientific explanation do not exist. A room in his medical institution (numbered 404) is rumoured to be haunted by the ghost of a student who previously stayed in that room and had committed suicide there, which he surely doesn’t believe. A rational student Abhimanyu (Rajvvir Aroraa) now occupies that room. Abhimanyu experiences the unusual and now has to choose between what to believe and what not. Despite evidence suggesting a rational explanation to the physical events following up to the climax, the movie closes open-endedly, leaving a supernatural explanation equally likely.[2]Cast

Reception
The film was generally well received by critics. The Times of India rated the film 4 out of 5 stars, praising the movie's performances, cinematography and direction calling the movie a smart paranormal drama. In their review, they commented, "The highpoint of the film lies in the fact that it explores paranormal activity without abandoning science and rationality. And that indeed is a rare achievement."[3][4] Bollywood Hungama similarly gave the movie 3 stars out of 5. In his review for Bollywood Hungama, Taran Adarsh wrote, "404 is yet another innovative story with a taut screenplay, riveting direction and applaud-worthy performances as its strong points. Original in content and radical in approach, this new-age thriller is yet another step in the right direction of content over stars."[5] Writing for Rediff, Preeti Arora similarly praised the movie's spooky cinematography and applauded director Prawaal Raman for not resorting to gimmicks such as "cuss words and mindless obscenities" while criticizing the melodrama and the length of the climax. She rated the movie 3.5 stars out of 5.[6]Conversely, Komal Nahta from Koimoi gave the movie a "Business Rating" of 1 out of 5, summing up the movie's bad parts as being, "The confusing screenplay; the abstract ending; the attempt to debunk the theory that ghosts exist." In his final verdict, Nahta remarked that 404: Error Not Found will win critical acclaim but not box-office awards.[7]

Storyline
Abhimanyu enrolls
himself in a medical institute and gets a room in the hostel. He finds
that ragging is rampant, initiated by Chris and other seniors, on
vulnerable freshers so much so that three years ago a student, Gaurav P.
Gupte, killed himself. When he himself becomes a victim, he speaks out
and complains, only to have his room trashed. He then requests that he
be moved to Room 404 - the very room that was occupied by Gaurav. The
authorities initially refuse as the room has been under lock and key
since the suicide and no one dared to occupy it. But Abhimanyu insists
and assures them that this will remove the myth associated with it, and
he is accordingly permitted to do so. Shortly thereafter, he will start
to hallucinate about not only seeing but also speaking with Gaurav. When
he shares these with his friend, Neha; and Professor Aniruddh and his
wife, Dr. Meera, they express disbelief and are convinced that he is

Intelligent Movie
404 turns out to be a
very different experience . An intelligent concept,well thought of and
researched work by Director Prawaal RamanTruly a mind game . Brilliant
Acting by Imaad ,Nishikant and Tisca. Imaad is just too good as a
senior.Nishikant's performance is brilliant and Tisca is
excellent.Rajvir Arora is extremely good as this being his debut movie.
The movie keeps you engaged all throughout .Prawaal Raman's direction is
flawless. The movie makes your mind work all throughout.Very
engaging.The climax turns out to be the best. Very unpredictable and you
are made to think even after the movie is over. The film is a much
watch for people who prefer something different and exciting cinema.
