There is a tender story here, where cinema and family shared the same frame. Prem Nath and Bina Rai met while working on Aurat and married in 1952.
Prem Nath became known for roles in films such as Aan, Teesri Manzil, Johny Mera Naam and Bobby, working across leading, supporting and villainous parts during a career that began in 1948. Bina Rai found her finest-known roles in Anarkali, Taj Mahal and Ghunghat; for Ghunghat, she won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.
Away from the cameras came their family life. They had two sons, Prem Krishen and Kailash Nath, with Prem Krishen later becoming an actor and television producer.
And the family tree reached deep into Hindi cinema: Prem Nath’s sister Krishna married Raj Kapoor, while his sister Uma married Prem Chopra. His brothers Rajendra Nath and Narendra Nath were actors too.
In Shakespearean spirit, one might say: here were two lives joined by love, stage, screen and home.
